Lesley A Turner
During the 1970s Lesley graduated from Bolton College of Art and Design, as a member of the ‘Society of Industrial Artists and Designers’. She concentrated on Textile and Surface Pattern Design, for leading brand names within the home furnishings and wall coverings industries. Inspired by local, natural, architectural and industrial environments, Lesley enjoys focusing on their abstract qualities. Her most recent paintings have been influenced by the ‘Op Art’ movement which included leading artists Victor Vasarely and Bridget Riley. She has exhibited at Pendle Heritage Centre, Haworth Art Gallery, Accrington, Manchester Art Show, Studio 6 artists and the New Longton Art Society, Preston.
John Parker
Local Landscape artist John Parker is inspired by the history and beauty of the Pennine hills and villages. John Parker has shifted over the years from one ‘art form’ to another, from professional bodybuilder to watercolour artist. John enjoys nothing more than to surround himself in beautiful countryside and capture the passion and moods of the changing seasons. Setting suns, leafy lanes, evening shadows… His paintings show some of the most stunning views of Lancashire, from Towneley Park to Coniston Water. You are drawn into the picture, along the paths, through the trees, beyond the hills; you can immerse yourself in a truly tranquil setting… The paintings provide an escape into a rural idyll, noted for their stunning clarity and beautiful use of colour they guarantee to bring years of pleasure and be an investment for future generations.
Malcom Redford
Born in North London and brought up in rural Hertfordshire, Malcom has always found inspiration in the hills, wild landscapes and some of the industrial townscapes of his adopted home on the Lancashire / Yorkshire border. He achieved his degree in History and Art History at Nottingham University. Having always felt comfortable with a pen, pencil or brush in his hand, Malcom has always been an avid sketcher, finding it easier to express his view of the world through drawing and painting. His ideal is to combine his art with a decent cycle ride; his recent trip was from Venice back home. Malcom has quite an eclectic taste and enjoys experimenting with different styles and fitting them to the subject, be it precise pen and ink, subtle, atmospheric watercolour, or bold and brazen oils. His most recent ventures have included printing some of his designs as greeting cards and calendars along with illustrations. Malcolm’s unique art work is balanced by his work as a supply teacher, which keeps him grounded!
Malcom’s Pennine calendars are on sale at the Northern Life Centre £3.99.
