Yorkshire Monochrome Group

The YMG is a group of photographers whose aims are to encourage monochrome photography, both film and digital, by producing, showing and discussing prints, mounting a yearly exhibition, sharing knowledge and ideas, and enjoying guest speakers at our monthly meetings.

Colin Snelson

‘Piano Closeup’. Colin has been a member of YMG since almost the first meeting a decade ago. His interests are now mainly digital but he still has a working darkroom. He lives in Nidderdale and photographs the locality a lot.

Bob Mawer

‘Bodie GhostTown’ a ghost gold mining town in California.

Michael Crocker

‘Detail of the derelict winding gear at the Coniston Metal Mine’. Michael is retired and lives in Haslingden (Lancs). His main interest is in fell walking which gives him plenty of opportunities for photography. He is particularly interested in the redundant remnants of man’s interaction with the landscape but also photographs a widerange of subject matter when the chance occurs.

David Ainsworth

David is a self taught artist working fromhis home in Smithy Bridge,Littleborough. The fantastic landscape and architecture which surrounds his home provides him with much of his inspiration with many of his paintings based on his own photographs. He is particularly drawn to the sharp contrast of light and shadows and tries to enhance these qualities in his work. Professional recognition was achieved when he attained the ultimate status of ‘Fellow of the International Guild of Artists’ with the British Watercolour Society in 1999. (Limited to twenty-one selected watercolour artists).
